The Necessity of Change

From early on in elementary school, Leslie was a natural artist. Her creative edge has brought her show wins and blue ribbons since the age of 12. She was encouraged by her instructors to attend art college but somehow this was not in the cards.

Residing in Williamsport Pennsylvania, home of Little League International, her working art studio is located in the historic Pajama Factory building. This building has been placed on the national registry of historic places for its connection to the early industrialization moment of the country. In the 1950’s it was the largest pajama making plant globally. Additionally, she manages two wildly successful Airbnbs, with one being in a 3rd floor loft at the PJ Factory. Leslie has artistically created a chic space which guests from all over the world have spoken highly of.

Being self taught in almost all endeavors she is always pushing her edge of design. Although having a career background in accounting, she finds “therapy from numbers” comes with a zealous escape to her working artisan studio. Prompting a contradistinctive work module, this is where she comes to life releasing visionary ingenuity. Leslie typically paints with a knife, using acrylics or oil with an intense mixture of exploding textures. She is not a traditional artist rather impressionistically novel. For anyone who knows her work, they will see a wide melange of talent and skill. From wheel thrown/slab pottery, jewelry making, copper electroplating, gouache, watercolor, mixed media fine art to -pattern to finish- luxe genuine leather tote bags. A few original paintings were printed onto fabric which she then proceeded to sew/sell Japanese knot bags.

Leslie is compelled to continually educate herself in new forms and mediums pushing to enlarge the schema of her untamed heart. “I must constantly learn, grow, read and educate…it keeps me balanced, energized and inspired.”
Leslie currently has several of her custom one of kind free from ceramic sinks in the exclusive City Hall Grand Hotel, Williamsport, PA.

She has participated in many combination and solo art shows since early 2001 winning 1st in 3D, 2nd in 3D and 1st in 2D all in the same show. Displaying at the Gmeiner Art & Cultural Center, local Lycoming county artist galleries, Sullivan County PA Council on the Arts, Clinton County Arts Council with the most recent being at the Celebration Exotic Car Festival, Orlando Florida.

May 2020 brought the opportunity to collaborate on a public art mosaic piece, though her very first time working with mosaic, this would be a fabulous experience with a very talented group of artists.

She is an active member of the Bald Eagle Art League while being an artist on the registry of the Bellefonte Art Museum (where she has on display for sale her genuine leather tote bags in the “Twiga” museum gift shop). She states , “Leather is my most current addiction, buying the whole leather hide, laying it out on my studio floor and cutting each unique piece, yea, I’m addicted!.” She actually went from no sewing experience to sewing/selling her custom artisan leather totes in literally seven months. “ I get it in my head, I have to make it happen or the flow of creativity and inspiration gets all jammed up!”

While participating in the 62nd annual Ways Garden Art show, she happened to meet internationally known car
artist Simon Ward. Following many chats of cars, extreme opposite techniques, mediums and how she executes her specific style, an opportunity for collaboration has begun. “I think after the visit to the Simeone Foundation Automotive Museum I was hooked, standing there ‘open-mouthed’ and speechless nearly faint with inspiration.. I knew this was my next adventure!

As you now know, many things spur Leslie toward a motivated energetic life, but there is nothing at all more valuable than the amazing relationship she has with her three now-adult children. Micah , Leah and Joshua. “They are the joy of my heart and have always believed in who I am. Aside from my faith, they are my most treasured gifts in life.” Her recent marriage has opened the door for her to pursue her love of the arts full time. “Jake has given me the opportunity for the necessity of change that I forever have hoped for. His support is unmatched and pushes me to be my very best,
for this, I am truly grateful. "

From the beginning she has always made one of kind pieces, knowing the value of art that no one else has or can have. “Unique As The One Who Owns It” this is ...
